I grew up in a one horse town. That being said, I’m not too keen when it comes to under-underground music. But I have had the pleasure of hearing Brother Ali’s work, not to kiss his ass or anything like that, and I must say i like what i hear. Lil Wayne, Fiddy, even Eminem to an extent, are all rappers that seem to thrive on repetition in themes and ideas; Pussy, Money, and Weed. Artists(notice i didn’t say rappers) such as Slug, Ali, Mos Def, Vinnie Paz, and immortal Technique, tend speak for the everyman. Universal themes of societal issues, like poverty and political corruption, are endlessly analyzed and picked apart. It’s music for the mind, the sixth sense. Thanks, to all of you guys who create, produce, inspire, and support.
Rock On
